Record a form with the Chrome extension

Use the FormStatus Chrome extension to record the steps needed to complete a form. You can upload the resulting JSON file to FormStatus for replay.

Open the official FormStatus listing in the Chrome Web Store in Chrome and choose Add to Chrome. After installation, pin FormStatus from Chrome’s Extensions menu so it is easy to open while recording.

  1. Open the public page containing the form.
  2. Open the extension and sign in to your FormStatus account.
  3. Choose Start Recording. The toolbar badge shows REC while recording.
  4. Complete the form with test data. Include each page, conditional field, and required selection in the workflow.
  5. Submit the form. The extension downloads a JSON recording when it detects the final submission. If it does not stop, open the extension and choose Stop Recording.
  6. Upload the recording to test it.

Use test values you are comfortable storing in a recording. Review the JSON before sharing it. Do not enter passwords, payment details, or customer information while recording.

Refresh the form page and try again. Confirm that you are signed in and that the extension can access the current tab. Chrome’s internal pages cannot be recorded. If the download is missing, stop the recording manually and check the browser’s Downloads folder.
